Deep Creek Lake

This weekend I spent the weekend with my dad, Kathleen, Teddy, Kelly, and Dan at Deep Creek Lake. We went water skiing, tubing, 4-wheeling, and relaxing. It was nice and cool and quiet in the mountains, so it was a great escape from work and the suburbs. Skip over to Kathleen's blog, she told the details, but here are some pictures.

Before we drove to Deep Creek, we stopped at my Aunt Pat's house to see their new baby donkey, Rummy. Luckily Rummy is not weaned from his mother because I think Dan would have taken him with us! Thanks Aunt Pat for letting us come visit!

Since the boat is now kept in the woods of Western MD, mice have been getting into it. We all were a bit surprised to find a dead mouse in the boot of the water ski. We all used it despite of the smell.

Here is Dan on his first water skiing experience. He did really well! And Dad is using his new slalom ski.

Teddy and Kelly on the tube holding on for their lives!

Kathleen and I on the tube, probably right before Dad turned the boat sharp and swung us around super fast. I couldn't hold on and my face met Kathleen's leg. I swore that I broke my nose when I found that it was bleeding A LOT. I think I gave the guys on the boat a good scare when I took my hands down from my nose to reveal a face full of blood! No worries, I was ok... just a bit of a sore nose. Blame it on us if you don't get the fast swing around move on the tube from my dad anymore! Sorry!

Gunny enjoyed herself at Deep Creek too. Very relaxing!

Here we are at Swallow Falls. The biggest falls in MD. Next time we are going to bring our bathing suits so we can jump off the rocks into the falls water!

After a great long weekend, we had to venture home. The trip was a lot of fun, as always. We have so many great memories of Deep Creek. Here's hoping that Dad will find his dream country house that is a great deal, on a good lot, with lots of parking, away from the road, with lots of space to park his "stuff," and of course a place that we can come visit and make more memories! Thanks to Dad for inviting us for the weekend and thanks to the Browns for letting us use their fabulous "Dancing Bear!"

Gunny in the Doggy Hospital

This weekend Gunny got really sick! She was throwing up A LOT and I was supposed to work all weekend so I decided to take her to the emergency vet on Saturday morning. They ended up admitting her and running a ton of tests. She had a doggy IV and Doggy NG tube, which went from her nose to her stomach to drain her stomach (she was not a fan of that one). They did X-Rays and ultrasounds, which showed something in her stomach which they could not identify. They told me that she was going to have to have surgery to find out what it was and take it out. As you can imagine, I was an ABSOLUTE Mess! Is it something she ate or cancer?? I was hoping for the best but imagining the worst. Monday morning, I got a call, expecting them to tell me when the surgery was going to happen, but instead, they told me that they repeated the ultrasound and didnt see anything! They were going to give her some food and if she kept it down all day, then she could come home!! This was better news then I ever expected! So, she ate, didnt throw up, and came home Monday night. She has been doing just fine since she got home. She just seems very tired, but very happy to be home. During her stay they did find that she has some mild heart disease, which is not requiring any treatment at this time, but it is good to know so I can follow up. I knew Gunny's time wasn't up. Although she is old, I know she has plenty more life to live! I want to thank Dan, my family, and friends who supported me through this weekend, becuase I was a blubbering idiot through most of it and I may not have survived without you! You guys are the BEST! Love you!

Take me out to the Ball Game...

This week I went to a couple baseball games.

On Sunday Kathleen, her "friend" Bill, Dan, and I went to an Orioles game. The game was not very well attended, but they won! It was a good game and something fun to do on a Sunday. Here are some pictures...

Then on Wednesday evening, Dan and I joined my dad and Teddy at a Nationals game. If you haven't been, the Nationals new stadium is really cool with bars and restaurants and a huge HD screen to watch. I don't have a picture of the nachos grande that Dan and I ate. They were disgusting, yet delicious! My dad's seats are on the third baseline where all the foul balls are hit. Unfortunately we didn't catch any... Next time!

Dan and I were behind this truck on the way. Thought it was funny and didn't make any sense! You tell me.

Good Times.

Rascal Flatts Concert

Here are some pictures from the Rascal Flatts concert at Nissan Pavillion last Saturday. We got there a little later than usual so we had to park in the far back parking lot (Parking Lot F). It was a lot of fun, eventhough there was a hourd of drunk teenagers in front of us, not feeling very well, and a couple of grumpy old people in the back of us yelling at everyone when they tried to step over their precious blanket. I just hope that when I am old, I can afford to sit in real seats and not in the lawn! The highlight of my night was when we were leaving (a little early to beat the rush) and Kim says to Kathleen, "Why don't you run to the car and come pick us up?" Kathleen says, "Ok," hands her free ice cream cup to Kim and starts running through the parking lot to the car. She ran all the way there (looking a little ridiculous with her flip flops on) and apparently wasnt watching for us as she drove out. By the time Kim and I got to where the car used to be parked, she was out of the parking lot completely. So, I guess jokes on us becuase Kim and I ended up having to run across the lot and over a fence to catch up to her. It all worked out ok though becuase we got home safely and quickly. Only 2 more concerts and then our summer series is over! :(

Gunny's Favorite Song

There is just something about Steve Miller Band that gets Gunny going...
