I Love the Christmas Season!

On Saturday, Dan and I got our Christmas tree. I love decorating for Christmas! Here are a few pictures...

All that decorating made us really tired! Look at how close Gunny and Bella are. They are going to be cuddling before we know it!

Cirque du Soleil

Friday afternoon Dan and I went to Kooza by Cirque du Soleil at National Harbor. I bought the tickets on a whim the night before and I am glad that we were able to go. It was very cool. If you don't have any exciting plans one evening, I highly recommend you go see it. We got the cheap seats and they were great. I am glad I didn't pay to sit anywhere else. The place is pretty small so you are close in any seat. No need to dress nice.. the show is in a circus tent and we had popcorn and soda during. It was a really fun time. New Baltimorian

It's official. I am reclaiming my Maryland roots this weekend. I have found a renter for my condo and am making the much anticipated move to Parkville, MD to live with Dan!

Sick Day

I have been at my job for almost 2 years and I have never used a sick day (not including the day Gunny came home from the hospital and I had to call in sick). But, today I had to use a sick day. I was supposed to work the night shift and I have a yucky cold so I called in. Sick days are not as nice when you live by yourself and there is no one to take care of you, but I did try and take full advantage. I sat on the couch for the whole day, half of which was in my PJs, I didn't do anything productive (eventhough I have a lot to do!), I drank a lot of orange juice and hot tea, I made a big pile of dirty tissues, and I ordered 2 Pay Per View movies (I am watching one of them for the second time right now.. got to get your moneys worth). Anyway... I am sad I had to break my perfect record, but sometimes you just gotta call in sick!

What's going on with Kim and Santa?

With Christmas approaching, I think it is important to have a friend who knows Santa. Kim.. If I tell you what I would like for Christmas could you tell Santa for me. :)

Halloween

This Halloween started off in the pumpkin patch....

And I found this cute little pumpkin there!

Then Dan and I sat on his front porch and handed out candy to all the cute little trick-or-treaters. We actually ran out of candy and had to close up shop at about 7:50! Luckily though, we were able to see some cute little kids and others that were giving out political advice.

Kid: "Who are YOU going to vote for?"
Us: "Who are YOU going to vote for?"
Kid: "John McCain of course!"
Us: "How come?"
Kid: "Because if Barack Obama gets into office, he is going to stop the war, and we are going to get bombed and then we are all going to DIE!"

So, lesson learned. Vote for John McCain or we are going to die. Little kids are so resourceful!

After that heavy information, we decided to join Kathleen and some of her friends out in Canton to celebrate Halloween in a lighter manner! No political talk at that party!

Here we all are... Kim was a pirate, Dan was Bob Ross (the painter who paints happy trees, you know who I am talking about and no that is not his real hair), I was a flapper girl, and Kathleen was a golfer (?).

As always, I have lots of pictures with Kim and stangers. I picked my favorite to post. Here is pirate Kim and Micheal Phelps eating his gold metals. He really did look like Micheal Phelps!

Overall, it was a fun Halloween night!

Camping

The other weekend, Dan and I went camping at the Granite Hill Campground in Gettysburg, PA. It was nice to be out in the wilderness. The weather was great, a tad bit chilly at night, but we survived.

Here is Dan putting up our cozy tent. We also had an air mattress and laptop to watch movies. I like comfortable camping. No sleeping on the ground and using the woods as a toilet!

On Saturday, we went to the Apple festival. Here is an attractive picture of me eating some fried apples. We also saw the steam engine display, perused the nick-nack shops, drank some fresh hot apple cider, checked out the old cars, and learned how to dance like American Indians. Overall it was a very cultural day.

On Sunday, we went did the driving tour of the Gettysburg Battlegrounds. It was a lovely day for a drive and very educational.

And this is what we did at night. The first night we cooked chili on the stove and the next night we got take out pizza from the local gas station and roasted marshmallows on the fire.

Girls Night Out

Tonight I had dinner with 6 of my girlfriends. We have dinner together every month and have been doing so since college... 4 years!! Wanted to blog about how cool it is that we have been able to keep this going for so long. Here's to us girls and many many more years of GNO!!

Hershey Park

Sunday was Hershey Park Day. Us Millers love Hershey Park. This was Kim's first Hershey experience. I think she enjoyed it. I didn't take too many pictures but here are a few...

I just wanted to blog about the yummy steak dinner that Dan and I made Saturday night. Isn't that an attractive meal?

And we dined by the light of the Dos Equis Chiminea that Dan won at a karaoke contest last year. Very romantic!

Great Falls

The other day, Dan, Gunny, and I took advantage of the nice weather and went to Great Falls, VA. It was very nice. Here are some pictures...

Who knew Gunny was such a good rock climber/hiker. This may have been one of the best days of her life!

Legwarmers Concert

Last weekend, we went to the Legwarmers Concert, my favorite 80's cover band! It is always a great time and this was no exception! Here are a few pictures of the night for those of you who missed it! Nice Morning Suprise

The last couple of days, I have been working nights. I have been getting home early in the morning, and have been pleasantly surprised by a new addition to my garden. This vine has been growing and weaving its way through my fence. At first, I thought it was a weed, but in the morning, the pretty purple flowers have been coming out. I had to take some pictures the other day to capture them because they are all closed up by the time I wake up in the afternoon. I guess there is a benefit to being up so early in the morning!

Deep Creek Lake

This weekend I spent the weekend with my dad, Kathleen, Teddy, Kelly, and Dan at Deep Creek Lake. We went water skiing, tubing, 4-wheeling, and relaxing. It was nice and cool and quiet in the mountains, so it was a great escape from work and the suburbs. Skip over to Kathleen's blog, she told the details, but here are some pictures.





Before we drove to Deep Creek, we stopped at my Aunt Pat's house to see their new baby donkey, Rummy. Luckily Rummy is not weaned from his mother because I think Dan would have taken him with us! Thanks Aunt Pat for letting us come visit!






Since the boat is now kept in the woods of Western MD, mice have been getting into it. We all were a bit surprised to find a dead mouse in the boot of the water ski. We all used it despite of the smell.

Here is Dan on his first water skiing experience. He did really well! And Dad is using his new slalom ski.

Kathleen and I on the tube, probably right before Dad turned the boat sharp and swung us around super fast. I couldn't hold on and my face met Kathleen's leg. I swore that I broke my nose when I found that it was bleeding A LOT. I think I gave the guys on the boat a good scare when I took my hands down from my nose to reveal a face full of blood! No worries, I was ok... just a bit of a sore nose. Blame it on us if you don't get the fast swing around move on the tube from my dad anymore! Sorry!






Gunny enjoyed herself at Deep Creek too. Very relaxing!


















Here we are at Swallow Falls. The biggest falls in MD. Next time we are going to bring our bathing suits so we can jump off the rocks into the falls water!



After a great long weekend, we had to venture home. The trip was a lot of fun, as always. We have so many great memories of Deep Creek. Here's hoping that Dad will find his dream country house that is a great deal, on a good lot, with lots of parking, away from the road, with lots of space to park his "stuff," and of course a place that we can come visit and make more memories! Thanks to Dad for inviting us for the weekend and thanks to the Browns for letting us use their fabulous "Dancing Bear!"
